Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Physiatry is a specialty that focuses on patient recovery from both life-changing and minor ailments. To me, the appealing aspect of this specialty is the ability to help people regain quality of life. A large part of my specialty is electrodiagnostic testing, also known as EMG & Nerve Conduction Studies. It is a test to evaluate the peripheral nervous system, which is much like an electrical circuit, and I believe that my background in electrical engineering has been very helpful.
