Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I enjoy helping others and always knew I wanted to work in health care. I worked as a Certified Nurses Aide in high school. While in college I worked toward becoming a Registered Nurse (R.N.). I then worked nine years as a R.N. in both the Emergency Room as well as the Operating Room. I also worked as a R.N. case manager for a hospice company while finishing my graduate degree to become a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. I briefly worked for an orthopedic office right out of school, however I missed taking care of the patient as a whole. I felt that Family Medicine was a better fit for me as I can take care of individuals across their lifespan.
