Hazem El-Khatib
Hazem El-Khatib, MD, is an accomplished cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon with AHN Cardiovascular Institute and Director of Cardiac Surgery at AHN Forbes Hospital, with extensive expertise in treating patients with coronary artery and vascular heart disease. He is skilled at coronary artery bypass graft surgery, aortic surgery, minimally invasive heart surgery, and surgical procedures of the arteries, veins, chest, and lungs. Dr. El-Khatib also has extensive knowledge and expertise in structural heart disease, ventricular assist devices (VAD), heart valve reconstruction, repair and replacement, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy. He went to medical school at American University of Beirut School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. He did his residency at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio and completed his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Dr. El-Khatib is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is affiliated with the American Board of Thoracic Surgeons and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is also fluent in both French and Arabic and welcomes patients age 18 and older.
