She completed her obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, serving as assistant chief resident. She is certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, of which she is a Fellow.

She has been in private practice since 1994 with Westmoreland Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc., providing general obstetrics and gynecology services to women of all ages.
