I saw Doctor Hastings last year when I was brought into the emergency room because I was experiencing a severe myocardial infarction (heart attack) and Dr. Hastings treated me with complete disdain and made me feel like I was less than human. The comments he made in the emergency room to me and to the nurses in the room were so hurtful and made me feel like I deserved being sick in the hospital because of my lifelong fight with my weight and life choices. He clearly had no sympathy for me during one of the scariest and worst moments of my entire life, in fact he actually made me feel even worse if you can even imagine that being possible. The way he looked at me and spoke to me was so very judgmental and hurtful and to me it felt like i was being shamed about my weight and obesity battle while I was laying there afraid and wondering if I was going to live. I have battled weight issues my entire life, I have dieted, exercised and tried to do everything I can to become a healthier person, however my experience that night in the ER with Dr. Hastings literally destroyed my confidence and self-esteem to the point where I am still fighting to this day more than a year later. Anyone who has battled obesity and weight issues knows the horrible and embarrassing feeling of people staring and making faces when they see you, but I never in a million years would have thought that a Doctor who took an oath to help people like me would ever make me feel so humiliated and shame me about my weight like he did that evening. If you're looking to be judged, humiliated, and treated like you're a burden to society because you exist...Dr. Hastings is the man for you.
