Cristina Lopez-Peñalver, M.D., is a breast surgeon at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute Breast Center. She specializes in the surgical management of breast cancer and high-risk lesions, including breast conservation, sentinel node biopsy and mastectomy (both skin sparing and nipple sparing). She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Lopez-Peñalver graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed her surgical residency and internship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
She is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is involved in a clinical trial that compared intraoperative radiation to standard radiation in patients with early-stage breast cancer.
With work published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Lopez-Peñalver lectures nationally and in Latin America.
In her free time, Dr. Lopez-Peñalver enjoys traveling and photography.
