It's been almost three decades since Tammie Klein, MD, began her OB/GYN practice at Springfield Clinic. Dr. Klein, who was born in Evanston, Ill., earned her medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, then moved to Springfield to complete her OB/GYN training at SIU School of Medicine. She joined Springfield Clinic's OB/GYN team in 1988 and has been an integral part of the department and Springfield Clinic's physician leadership since that time. In addition to her role as co-chair of the Center for Women's Health, Dr. Klein currently serves on the Clinic's Marketing & Communications Committee. Dr. Klein specializes in obstetrics, high-risk obstetrics and gynecology, including adolescent and gynecologic surgery. She is board certified in obstetrics & gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ACOG). Additionally, she serves as a clinical associate professor at SIU School of Medicine. "One of the most rewarding aspects of my practice is developing generational relationships," said Dr. Klein. "I have several families where grandmother, mother and daughter all count on me for their care. It's a great honor knowing that I've been such an important part of their family's health." In addition to her busy medical practice, Dr. Klein finds the time to enjoy quilting and traveling, particularly on mission trips. She is married with two children.
