Dr. Michael Pirkowski is a board-certified radiation oncologist. Dr. Pirkowski served at Georgetown University Medical Center as the clinical director of the intraoperative radiation oncology program, where he invented a special diaphragmatic applicator for treatment of ovarian cancer. He relocated to central Florida in 1991. Dr. Pirkowski has participated in specialized training in prostate brachytherapy at the Northwest Tumor Institute in Seattle and in 2006, he brought image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) to Volusia and Flagler County. He is the most experienced prostate radiation oncologist in the area, having treated over 700 patients with IGRT.
