Reuben Escorpizo is a physical therapist at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He specializes in orthopedics, work rehabilitation and conditioning. He works with patients who suffer from musculoskeletal pain and spinal cord injuries or who have had total joint replacement. Reuben uses treatments and therapies such as manual therapy and therapeutic taping. His research interests include patient-reported outcomes and assessment, spinal cord injury, arthritis, contextual factors, work disability and rehabilitation.Reuben is active in his research area and teaches at the UVM Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This has allowed him to ensure his care is contemporary and evidence-based and one that considers patients first. As a professor at UVM, he feels privileged to be part of educating the new generation of physical therapists.Reuben’s philosophy includes patient-centered care. He believes that any successful treatment depends on a collaborative and active partnership between the patient and their families, the physical therapist, and other healthcare professions.
