Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: The desire to learn about the human body in health and in sickness, coupled with experience as a child who spent about six weeks in a hospital bed receiving excellent care from the National Orthopedic Hospital in Nigeria, led to my interest in medicine. Post graduation from medical school, I discovered over time that I have a special affinity for oncology patients and this led to my decision to pursue sub-specialty training in hematology and oncology. What I want my patients to know about me: I want my patients to know that they will be treated with compassion, kindness, honesty, openness and respect at all times.
