Dr. Joph Steckel diagnosed my prostate cancer, and performed my successful surgery years ago. But the really great thing about this top surgeon is that my insurance company wanted to send me to an inexperienced surgeon to perform my operation. Dr. Steckel looked up his record and showed me online that he had only performed my particular surgery 3 times a year over the last 5 years, compared to Dr. Steckel's twice a week, 100 times a year. He didn't want to trust my outcome to this inexperienced surgeon, so he wrote a letter to my insurance company pointing out their liability if anything went wrong with the complex nerve sparing surgery. Then he offered to perform the surgery himself for the same fee the insurance company was willing to pay the inexperienced surgeon. They agreed, and allowed me to go out of network. The surgery performed by Dr. Steckel was a success, and I am cancer free a decade and a half later, with a zero p.s.a.
