Dr. Dustin Wilkes grew up in a small farming community near Lubbock, Texas. He is a board certified dermatologist through the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology.
He earned his Bachelors degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at the University of North Texas in Denton and received his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. He then completed his internship at Corpus Christi Medical Center from July 2010 to June 2011.
From July 2011 until June 2014 he completed his Dermatology residency training at St Joseph Mercy Hospital affiliated with Michigan State University. He won several awards including the Daniel Koprince, D.O. Award for Education given to the top resident presentation.
In addition to general dermatology and dermatopathology, Dr. Wilkes received training in MOHS Micrographic surgery, advanced aesthetic surgery, as well as cosmetic dermatology.
Patients appreciate Dr. Wilkes’s comprehensive approach to the treatment of their skin disorders. He approaches each patient individually taking into account all factors pertaining to the patient’s problems. He spends an extensive amount of time getting to know each patient so he can best tailor their therapy.
He is an adjunct faculty member of Michigan State University, John Peter Smith Hospital, and UNT Health Science Center in teaching medical students and residents on rotations.
He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery, Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Society, Texas Dermatologic Society, and the Texas Medical Association.
