Cataracts
Lori McStoots, OD
A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye that can impair vision. More than half of all Americans age 65 and older have cataracts. In a normal eye, the crystalline lens is almost transparent, however age, injury or disease can cause the lens to eventually lose its clarity. When the lens becomes 'opaque,' it is called a cataract. Treatable by surgery.
