Dr. Bickman's advertisement popped up in my Facebook feed, and I was impressed with what I saw on her site in terms of helping woman who are transitioning into menopause. Since my OBGYN had retired, I was ready to make a change. My experience with her office, staff, and her lack of follow through was completely unprofessional.
PRO: The only pro was the ability to get an appointment right away.
CONS: Clearly overbooked with pregnant women filling every chair when I walked in at 8:30am. Between waiting and my appointment, I was there over 2 hours! This is just not acceptable.
*as a new patient, they didn't weigh me, take my vitals signs, blood pressure, etc.,nada!
*Dr. Bickman did meet with me, but didn't do an internal exam on me. As a new patient, don't you need to do this?!
*Dr. Bickman was attentive, yet rushed during our appointment. She asked me how I was feeling and about my symptoms. She requested that I give blood and told me it would take about a week for the results. She gave me her opinion on the Mona Lisa Touch, and quoted me $900 for one procedure, and said I might only need one. I called around, and everyone else in the city advertises a series of 3 as a protocol, and not just one!
*The office isn't as new and clean as I'm used to. She doesn't have proper chairs where you can lay your arm flat to give blood. The nurse had to pull my arm up from the chair and onto a counter to take blood. Very awkward and not easy to find a vein this way!
*After 2 weeks, I hadn't heard anything from the doctor, so I called the office and asked if my blood work was in. The receptionist who answered the phone was so sick and could barely speak without coughing. She told me yes, my blood work was in, and the doctor would call me around 7:00pm-8:00pm. The doctor never called me back, but the sick receptionist did and told me my results were consistent with a woman in menopause. She said the doctor would call me back. She never did.
*Today 3/14/2018 I walked into the office this afternoon and asked for my medical records. I signed all the papers and was told it would take 2 weeks. When asked why it would take two weeks to pull my file, photocopy just 2 pages-my mammogram and blood work and hand to me-I was told it had to be signed off by the doctor LOL! Judging by the stacks of paperwork everywhere, the overbooked office, and the lack of follow through in getting a call back regarding my blood work, I doubt I will ever see my medical records. I will be calling Blue Shield and filing a complaint with them regarding my sub-par experience with this office. Clearly, woman who are entering menopause are not the cash cows like the young pregnant women. I realize you are not going to make big bucks off of an appointment and a prescription, but we women over 50 are real people, the care takers of the world, who are going through an important phase in life. We should be taken care of and not treated like an after thought.
