Are you facing a difficult situation? or feeling "stuck?" You may be riding the waves of divorce, midlife shifts, career change, or loss. Perhaps a relationship is at risk? Or, your child may be struggling with the effects of family upheaval or low self-esteem? Do you want to change emotionally and recover your inner balance?
Specific focus areas include: mood and motivation, anxiety, past trauma, loss and grief, relationships, life transitions, cancer journey, creativity, performance, and practical problem-solving. Women dealing with shifts in midlife and beyond are an important part of my practice. My clients choose goals ranging from basic counseling and practical problem-solving to deeper, more transformational work.
Whether we meet for therapy, counseling, or consultation, my goal is for you to feel safe, heard, and validated. I provide clear, reliable responses to your questions---with a sense of direction and next steps. For healing, growth, clarity, and confidence contact me and let's explore how I might support you and your personal goals.
My book, MIDLIFE CHECK-IN: WHO AM I REALLY? A GUIDE TO DEEPENING YOUR SENSE OF SELF IN MIDLIFE AND BEYOND was published recently and is available online and in Monterey County, CA bookstores.

Services
AS A THERAPIST, I focus primarily on the emotional and developmental challenges of individuals and couples and on personal transformation in midlife and beyond.
I begin our work together by gaining an understanding of what you are seeking and the specific issues and needs involved.
I also want to assess what approach(-es) fit your comfort zone. I work with verbal and nonverbal therapies: Cognitive, Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic, Dream work, EMDR, Jungian Sandplay, Imagery and Mind-Body. I regularly draw on current neuroscience research as it relates to effective cognitive and emotional therapy.
AS A GIFTEDNESS CONSULTANT, I provide practical information and support regarding the unique social-emotional needs and risks of accelerated intellectual and creative development. I am a community resource for gifted adults, couples, and families, and for educators. In addition to working directly with gifted individuals, I work with those who teach, parent, and/or live with them.
MIDLIFE CHECK-IN WORKSHOP/GROUP for PROACTIVE WOMEN (40s - 70s)
Held periodically during the year, this half-day workshop honors the unique challenges and gifts of the midlife journey. It is not a therapy group, but an opportunity to find out what is "normal" or not; the psychological shifts that we experience; the day-to-day ways we are challenged, shifted, and transformed during this time; and the core tasks of our midlife years and beyond. In addition to being informative and eye-opening, it is an opportunity for reflection and to engage in dynamic conversation with other proactive midlife women! Group is limited to 8.
TO BE ON THE MAILING LIST, send your name and email contact to MEMdocMFT@gmail.com with subject line "CHECK-IN Group."
