2 reviews 1.0 star rating 1/5/2017 I got a GROUPON for this vet. I should have left after the first visit, because they didn't want to honor the GROUPON. Saying it didn't include micro-chip, when the GROUPON clearly stated it did. It was advertised the "deal" as being 67% off as it included a an office visit, the mandatory wellness plan already included that visit, so the savings is a lot less.
But, I signed up for the wellness plan, for my healthy 2 1/2 year old dog. After a lot of insisting by me they agreed to micro chip him. He was a little guy named Jack.
Hi next visit was on 12/3/2016. My husband brought him in because he had vomited a few times that day. They did labs, x-rays, vet exams as my dog got sicker and sicker. Even though they advertise as a ER vet with overnight and surgical capabilities they sent us to another ER vet on Southside Blvd (and charged us over $1000).
After a very long night including more x-rays, labs, surgery for torsion of his gut our poor little Jack crossed the rainbow bridge at about 4:00 am on 12/4. There was of course thousands of dollars spent here as well. I would have spent a lot more to have my little guy in my lap right now.
Then on 1/4/2017 i get a charge to my CC from Baymeadows Animal hospital for $174.00. I called to ask them what it was for. I was told oi had to pay out the balance of my wellness plan since I had canceled it.
So...because my pet was misdiagnosed and not correctly treated by them and was subsequently died I have to pay an additional $174? Yep, I sure do. The account manager repeatedly told me I had signed a contract. The fact that my dog died was not relevant. I asked if I could use the remainder on my other pet (a cat) Nope, it's just Jack.
Avoid veterinarians like Dr. Gallipalli who suggest a variety of treatments and qualify 'diagnoses' with images online. His speculation was a conniving strategy for accruing more money and not considering my pet's best interests. During one of my visits, health services included on the pet wellness plan I purchased were dispensed without verifying with me first. I should have been notified beforehand but Dr. G. and his sales staff disciples only want your money - no matter the condition of your pet at the time. After my pet's progress worsened after each visit- physically and behaviorally, I visited two other vets for second opinions. The two other vets - which do not offer pet healthcare plans - suggested loads of ideas, products, & different food supplements to increase my cat's health and disposition. Dr. G. did not offer any helpful insights nor suggestions about other options; he was stubborn and believed in his own scripted ways. He only offered options to buy directly from Baymeadows Animal Hospital. Both vets thought Dr. G's excessive treatment was more-so hinder-some than helpful for my cat. One vet questioned the ethics of administering consecutive steroid doses, which is not only considered grueling, but harmful. Two injections are typically reserved spanning the course of the year. Dr. G administered one every month.
So what should you learn from my naive mistake in choosing Baymeadows Animal Hospital during an immediate pet emergency?
Avoid Baymeadows Animal Hospital and any vets promoting pet wellness plan tactics. These vets are geared to sell products instead of offering the most intelligent & beneficial healthcare service. If you bring your pet to Baymeadows Animal Hospital, I can honestly and accurately state that you are not receiving the best healthcare. I'd rather waste the $300 I am currently being charged for the pet plan, than to EVER visit Baymeadows Animal Hospital again. Dr. G's vet expertise might suffice for routine visits, but not for emergency situations. Would you want to receive mediocre treatment? Then why allow your pet?! If you choose the services of Baymeadows Animal Hospital after reading this review, I truly feel sorry for your pet. A caring pet owner would not recommend this facility.
FYI: Most of the techs I met (3/4) were not genuinely caring and compassionate toward my animal. They remained cold and ignorant - maybe the techs work better with dogs. Even so, sales associates better describe their job occupation - NOT animal specialists. I've also found a significant distinction between the positive published Google+ reviews (most likely created by spam staff members) than the poor listings on yelp. The owner is actually buying positive product ad space on yelp to target the top of the page and detract from the actual poor reviews. The DemandForce reviews that target the Bing search engine are completely bogus; it is very difficult to create an account to access the site.
I honestly wish that I never brought my cat to Baymeadows Animal Hospital! Hopefully by publishing this review, I can help other animal owners learn from my error. Please avoid Baymeadows Animal Hospital!!!
