Dr. Schechter thoroughly enjoys working with men and women, both individually and as couples, as they navigate through various life stages and challenges.
Dr. Schechter strives to create a supportive, non-judgmental, open, and comfortable environment that allows people to process and share their innermost thoughts and feelings. She believes that people can find inner peace and happiness and she approaches therapy from a strengths based perspective. Her approach is to develop a trusting collaborative relationship as she works with her clients to identify and work toward attainment of their personal goals. She practices primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioral perspective, while integrating an eclectic approach to meet the needs of each individual client. She considers her style to be straightforward, supportive, and compassionate.

Dr. Allison Schechter offers a variety of psychological services including therapy for individuals (both men and women), couples (both married and dating), and families. Dr. Schechter works to create a collaborative relationship with her clients. It is up to the individual, couple, or family to decide areas that need improvement or change. Dr. Schechter assists in the journey of self-healing, growth, and transformation. Therapy can be short-term and solution focused, or more long-term and process oriented. She works together with her clients to help set the pace. The overall goal of therapy is for clients to live a more insightful, peaceful, and personally fulfilling future. Dr. Schechter enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families who are motivated for change and are committed to working toward their personal goals, gaining insight, and transforming their lives.
The office environment at Interchange Psychological Services is warm, peaceful, and serene. Dr. Schechter enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families who present with a wide variety of issues and concerns including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, stress, adjustment difficulties, communication issues, and relationship concerns (either marriage, dating, or family). She has particular interest in working with women who present with a variety of women's issues, including difficulty in identity, relationships, postpartum depression, parenting issues, and difficulty in adjusting to various phases of life. Therapy services are currently offered on Saturdays.
