Counseling starts with out getting acquainted and discussing what concerns you. Together we will identify goals, explore options, and work toward positive change. My style is interactive. This means that along with careful listening, I will ask questions, provide you with problem solving ideas, coping techniques, and education. This creates a counseling session that is dynamic, collaborative, and productive.
Here are examples of how I can help in the following areas.
Grief/Loss - Often a person going through loss feels isolated even when surrounded by friends and family. We tend not to express the depth of our pain as a way of protecting our loved ones. Still, the pain is there. I can handle hearing the depth of your suffering. I will also teach you the stages of grief and explore how your personal experience of each. Together we will create a plan for coping and eventually healing.
