Dr. Ward has experienced a deep background in both physical and biological sciences which accounts for his no nonsense approach to nutrition.
He studied for 2 years at DePauw University majoring in mathematics and chemistry before transferring to Georgia Tech in 1962. He then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Geology in 1964 and also satisfied course work for the Premed requirement. That same year, he was offered a position with the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office in Washington D.C. as a Research Oceanographer. Dr. Ward continued his studies in Marine Geophysics at American University until assigned to duty in Vietnam in 1968.
Leaving Government service, Dr. Ward attended Los Angeles College of Chiropractic where he was senior class president and graduated with high honors in 1973. He remained as an Assistant Professor of Physiology until 1974 when he moved into private practice.
In 1978 he began work with the University of Bridgeport earning a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition in 1980. During this time, Dr. Ward was able to study with some of the giants of biochemistry such as Broda Barnes, M.D., PhD, the father of functional Thyroid research.
To date Dr. Ward continues to refine nutritional diagnostics reflecting all the latest university research from such institutions as Johns-Hopkins University. He has recently been asked to participate in a nutritional field study by the Institute for Functional Medicine in Washington State that is determining the effectiveness of nutritional protocols on a variety of named conditions.
