In June of 2011, I completed advanced studies at Heartwood Therapeutics in Pismo Beach, graduated as a Certified Massage Therapist and applied for certification by the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC).
While I've now completed nearly 600 hours of massage classwork, I don't consider my education complete. I'm always searching for that next class to take.
The holistic nature of Esalen Massage is at the heart of every massage that I perform. My focus is less on any specific pain or sore muscle that a client presents - and is more on the entire mental, physical, spiritual and emotional person that is on my table.
My philosophy is that massage should NEVER hurt. Even deep tissue, at it's most intense level, should feel like a good, deep, constructive stretch. Think about how your body instinctively responds to pain - you tense up - it's a natural reaction as your muscles try to protect themselves. I believe that long, gentle strokes, with ever-increasing pressure, are much more effective for relieving tension and dealing with your aches and pains.
Open lines of communication are an integral part of my massage therapy. For your massage to be most effective, I need to know if you're too warm, if you don't like the music that's playiong, or if the aroma of the oil isn't your favorite. And most importantly, if ANYTHING about the massage causes you discomfort in ANY way, please tell me. You won't offend me or hurt my feelings. The massage session is about you, your comfort, and your healing.

In April of 2006, I graduated as a Certified Massage Practitioner from the Hirudaya Holistic Life Center in San Luis Obispo CA. I immediately opened a massage practice in Nipomo CA. Just two weeks later, during a visit to the Esalen Institute in Big Sur (with two fellow students celebrating our graduation) I discovered my true calling ... Esalen Massage.
