I moved here from out of state. I immediately got scheduled with Eric Seymour to continue my medications for my chronic skin condition. I wanted to make sure I had a local doc to continue my scripts without delay. They sent out paperwork, which I filled out and sent back, only to have to do it again the day of my appontment. They were well aware of my current meds (most of which I have been on for a decade). One in particular needs an occasional prior authorization for insurance. This had only happened three or four times in ten years and it takes less than 15 minutes to complete. They were also aware of that fact. After my appointment my prescriptions were refilled without an issue until approximately 6 months later when the insurance requested a prior authorization. At that point we were told " We don't do those. We have a policy against it. They take away from patient care". Here, I thought I was the patient. Never in 30 years of nursing have I heard of such a thing and neither had the pharmacist or the insurance company. The staff at the clinic was rude, dismissive and attempted to give me alternate med options even though they have no authority over my health care, nor are they qualified. They spent way more time arguing than it would have to do the right thing. Meantime, they accepted me as a patient and charged my insurance for a new patient without any intent if following through, I paid $190 out of pocket for the med and had to go through the process of finding a competent provider at the last minute so I would not have to do so again. I did like the PA I saw, but you can only be as good as your support staff and they are the worst, and if you as a provider cannot change office policy to be in the best interest of your patients you can be as nice as you want but you are not a good provider.
