Horse Programs for Adults and Children alike.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 2010, MERF established an Equine-Assisted Learning Program at our facility. This program pairs children from local schools, church and scout groups with horses in our rescue. We offer day programs, camps, and weekly sessions for children all programs are specifically designed to be hands-on learning experiences!

We also be offering a therapy program that has proven successful in assisting children who have not been helped in other therapeutic or social service programs in the very near future. Underprivileged, emotionally and physically challenged children have found a safe haven at MERF, a place to reflect upon healing themselves and those in their care. In many cases, they have learned a sense of purpose and witnessed the benefits of teamwork for the first time in their lives.

It takes a village

MERF believes in full accountability to the horses and community we serve. To this end, the MERF established its Community Outreach Program. Members assist with feeding the horses, cleaning stalls, washing tack as well as grooming and exercising our horses. We introduced a learning program which includes hands-on equine education covering the basics of care through natural horsemanship. The experience gained in the Outreach Program has a profound effect on the lives of many adults, children and horses alike. We are currently undergoing NARHA Certification (North American Handicapped Riding Association) and we plan to offer therapeutic riding programs beginning April, 2012.

This woman calls herself a rescue, yet she Bailed/rescued a horse from Camelot Auction and as soon as the QT was up transported the horse straight back to the auction because someone told her the horse was scared of humans. She never set eyes on the horse. Then one of her "rescued" horses stepped on her min pin and she threatened to take him and hte other horses to SugarCreek Auction. That is not a rescue. Now she is talking about buying a male and female min pins to start breeding...what kind of rescue breeds?
