MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT
Movement is not just muscles moving bones. Movement involves communication between the nervous system, and musclulo-skeletal systems. Assessment of the components of this system (posture, strength, flexibility, balance) and how they work together (movement) can pinpoint the weak links or imbalances within the system. The information gathered, becomes the base for an individualized corrective exercise protocol. Once the body is balanced, a full body functional fitness program can be designed and performed.
Prior to beginning a training program, everyone receives an individual movement assessment. In this assessment, we screen a variety of fundamental movement patterns to determine the proper starting point for your training program.
A Movement Assessment is a screening process that identifies poor movement patterns. Poor movement patterns are caused by muscle strength and flexibility imbalances. These imbalances in turn can cause compensatory patterns throughout the body, resulting in energy leakage and increase the potential for injury.
You must correct the imbalance at the beginning of your fitness program. Otherwise, you will continue to foster imbalances and deficiencies in your biomechanics. Identification and correction of these imbalances is the first line of defense in injury prevention and creating an individualized training program.
Purpose of the Movement Assessment
Focus on fundamentals of movement patterns
Facilitate communication between client, therapist, and physician
Identify physical imbalances, limitations, and weaknesses
Establish a functional baseline to mark progress
Improve fundamental movement patterns with simple corrective exercises
Individualize training and conditioning programs for specific results
Reduce the potential for training and sports injuries

MASSAGE/SOFT-TISSUE THERAPY
When you are healthy, your body can absorb the forces that are created when you move. When you experience trauma, from a fall, accident, or through repetitive strain, the surrounding areas become tight and restricted affecting range of motion and stability throughout the body. Points of restriction place pressure on nerves, bones, and muscles causing chronic pain.
Utilizing a variety of techniques, Jesses soft-tissue therapy sessions are designed to reduce chronic pain and discomfort; correct postural related stress patterns and muscle imbalances; increase range of motion, and speed recovery.
Techniques Include:
Neuromuscular therapy
Myofascial release
Trigger point therapy
Deep tissue massage
Active isolated stretching
Muscle energy techniques (contract-relax stretching)
Movement integration and re-education
