Dr. Vickerys passion for her work has driven her to seek the highest possible levels of surgical training. After earning her M.D. from the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Vickery completed eight rigorous years of post-doctoral training, first as a general surgeon, then as a plastic surgeon and microsurgeon. She is among a select group of surgeons with board certifications in general surgery and plastic surgery, in addition to a specialization in microsurgery.
Dr. Vickery was one of the first American surgeons to adopt scar-minimizing techniques for breast reduction surgeries, and she serves as a research investigator for the newest generation of breast implants. Dr. Vickery has also pioneered innovative approaches to breast reconstruction, including cutting-edge hybrid and revisionary surgeries. Dr. Vickery has published dozens of articles in medical journals throughout her career, and she holds an appointment as Associate Clinical Professor in Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she has taught since 1985.
In her spare time, Dr. Vickery maintains an interest in medical missions in Ethiopia, and she is a nationally ranked equestrian eventing participant. Dr. Vickery lives in New York City with her husband, Jim Capalino, a renowned government relations consultant. Dr. Vickery is also the mother of three extremely interesting children.
