Our daughter was admitted as the last stage (after medical at the hospital) of a Baker Act due to 2 suicide attempts in one week. We met with our daughter and a Coastal nurse and member of the staff upon her admission. We begged them to have a counselor or doctor contact us as the parents and 'outside' caregivers so that we can help our daughter survive on the 'outside' and the world. After keeping her overnight, Coastal released her with absolutely no contact with us. Not a text, a phone call, not a slip of paper with a phone number or name.
How is this experience going to reflect on Coastal when our next call is from the morgue? Will the staff and doctor there care at all then?
