• Godspeed Mobile Veterinary Care, founded in 1995 as a housecall practice, was first housed in Dr. Pamela Dumont’s home and then at the Toano Animal Clinic.
• Agape Animal Care was founded by Dr. Barley and Dr. Lee under the name Warhill Animal Clinic in a small building on Richmond Road. Eventually, they moved into the Tewning Road building that now comprises the heart of Godspeed Animal Care. Interestingly, they were the first business to build on the Casey tract that was to become New Town. Small animal medicine and surgery were available, along with boarding and grooming, emphasizing excellent care and personal service.
In 2001, the Godspeed and Agape practices merged under the name of Godspeed Animal Care. Godspeed was now a stationary practice, continuing to offer housecalls to pet owners for their convenience. In 2002, the exam rooms, treatment and reception areas, the runs, and the hospital wards were renovated. In 2003, we became the first clinic in Williamsburg to offer laser surgery as a humane option to declawing cats. Now, laser surgeries comprise at least half of all the surgeries we perform.
In January of 2004, construction started on the St. Francis Pet Resort & Rehabilitation Center. The fully completed facility opened in July 2005. This added a luxury boarding and rehabilitation center to our state-of-the-art veterinary facility at Godspeed. Grooming, obedience training, rehabilitation, doggie playcare, and a pet boutique have added to the convenience of "one-stop-shopping" that both Godspeed and St. Francis clients enjoy.
Today, Godspeed Animal Care is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA), and the local Chamber of Congress.
