Rita is a wonderfully positive and good-natured person. However, despite her fun personality, I found her actions to be unprofessional and sometimes quite odd. Originally seeking couples counseling, we told her at some point that I was also looking for a personal counselor. She immediately volunteered her services and I asked whether this wasn't a conflict of interest, to which she replied it wasn't. I later found out that this is a conflict of interest. During private sessions with my husband, she sometimes made negative comments about me, and at one point asked him "So what are you going to do about it?" implying that he should leave me after an outburst I had had with him after he left pools of stain on the porch to sit "and sink in" and the fumes overpowered and pervaded all parts of the house including our 10 month old baby's room. The home improvement guy even told us later that he is not supposed to do this, so I know I'm not crazy. I heard all of the things she said directly from my husband. A couple of times she told me her personal diagnosis, and another time she said to me how a single client could take down an entire practice. Not only was this bizarre comment totally out of left field, but she also said this two different times. The first time I didn't even register the comment because I had no idea what she was talking about. At the end, I was starting to feel more crazy than when I started. She had lots of good input to give us which we found helpful, but overall, I feel like I wasted valuable time that could have been put into more productive counselors.
