About
Joan Pedersen, Grief Counselor & Psychotherapist
My practice focuses on wellness, not pathology. Offering a holistic (mind-body) approach to psychotherapy and grief counseling, I've had the privilege of supporting adults on their journey to becoming their best, most authentic self. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients on such issues as intimacy, self esteem, loneliness, depression, anxiety, death/loss (e.g. suicide, abortion, infertility, financial, miscarriage, separation/divorce, death of a loved one or pet); and life transitions (illness, unemployment, aging, retirement, empty-nesting); as well as ACOA issues.
With post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, pastoral counseling and mindfulness, I work with clients as they better understand and push through the challenging emotional blocks which deter greater happiness. My style is honest, respectful, (often humorous), compassionate and interactive.
Having worked in the corporate world, I bring a variety of lived experiences to my practice with adults and couples. I have the deepest respect for, and continue to learn from, my clients' resilience as they grapple with the profound challenges of making meaningful changes in their lives.
