Dr. Kelly and staff put me at ease with my broken collarbone. I wanted to hear confidence and sound advice on how to handle the pain and recovery. Though I am still in recovery I feel good about it. Wait time in the office was quick and I felt tended to. I am healing well and appear to be on target.

I am very disappointed with this office. I was referred to Dr. Kelly for pain around my knee and a bone spur. It took them days to book my first appointment although Tricare had provided me with an authorization code to give them so they could go online to retrieve authorization. Once I was seen, the doctor seemed nonchalant about my complaints and it was my impression that he was going to just pat me on my back and send me on my miserable way with a diagnosis of "early onset of arthritis in my knee" until I began to cry. It was because of this passive behavior by doctors that had led me have chronic pain with little to no treatment after a bad fall I sustained in 2006. Seeing that I was clearly distressed he ordered a few more x-rays’. He decided that a arthroscopic examination was warranted and informed me that he would submit an authorization to Tricare for the arthroscopy and acl replacement. He stated that if at the time of the arthroscopy he found that the acl needed replacement, repair, etc. He would perform it there and then. Okay, cool, but what about my bone spur? He states that I was probably born with it, although I had x-rays clearly showing otherwise. Fine, lets just keep me on my feet. Spur can wait although I feel it should have been addressed at the same time as it took me appointments with four other doctors to be able to see him to begin with. It took Dr. Kelly’s office two weeks just to get transcription of my visit with him in order to request authorization for arthroscopic/acl surgery. I was in severe pain, I called the office to ask if he could prescribe something. I called Mon, waited till Wed for a reply, Left a message, no return call, called Thur was interrupted every few seconds for the young lady handling phones to try to assist me. It took me 15 minutes for her to finally end up disconnecting me on accident. I am now irate! I have been so patient. I call back and say I was disconnected and she says, "oh, I am sorry I have a lawyers office on the phone can you hold I need to take this lawyers call" I say, no I have already waited patiently for over 15 minutes just to be disconnected and now that a lawyer is calling in they are being serviced before me. I tell her that although I am not a lawyer I am a person, a person that is depending on this office, a person in pain and in need. I was told that she cant help me and will relay the message. All that and she couldn’t give me two minutes uninterrupted time to determine that. No one returns my call. Friday comes I call back I am told that Dr. Kelly NEVER prescribes pain meds. WHAT?! Why couldn’t they have told me this to begin with! Lucky for me that my primary care physician agreed to see me and give me a prescription. I am not feeling this office at all at this time. Tricare approves me for surgery and informs me they have already faxed all info to Dr. Kelly’s office. I call them and they say they have not received the fax, I tell them Tricare sent it over day before and provided them with date and time of fax confirmation and with authorization number so they can look it up via internet. She puts me on hold and it, "they find it". She sets me up with preoperative appt and I see Dr for a few minutes. We don’t discuss anything regarding surgery other than he is going to take a look and replace my acl if he finds it isn’t working correctly. I discuss with office manager my frustration regarding my issues with lack of a return call and she defends herself and calls in other office staff trying to prove me wrong. She stops just short of calling me a liar. I am thinking why would I lie to myself? I tell them its fine I got pain pills from my primary physician and now she and the Dr. tell me they are writing it in my chart. I'm like, its already in your chart. I told you in September that I was taking a pain med along with all other prescribed meds. Its no secret. I am then informed that I will not receive any pain meds after my operations as I already have some. I tell them yes I do and I have been on them. I have actively been receiving treatment for my "hurt" knee and "non existent" bone spur since July of this year. Limiting all my activity, not even grocery shopping or swimming, lifting my children or even taking walks. Damn right I am on pain meds no thanks to them. I don’t appreciate them treating me like a child getting busted trying to brake into my parents liquor cabinet. They are prescribed and disclosed. Okay, I leave with nothing more than a pamphlet on the surgery center I will be going to and instructions that someone will call me on Friday for surgery on Monday. Okay, I have been in this office for hours and need to leave out of state so I am just ready to go. I leave without receiving any info on either procedure, what to expect during procedures, options for "possible acl" surgery, after care treatment, care of surgical site, limitations, etc. I get a voicemail on Friday saying to check in to surgery center Monday at 5:50 am. I go in, nurse explains that I am getting donor acl if needed is this okay? I am like, its not like I have a choice and she says yes I do but doctor has noted I will have donor, I wonder why this was not discussed at pre op appt. I am also asked I have a brace given to me by Dr's office. I say no, she is displeased as I needed to have one. I tell her of my experience with office and she says that this Dr's office is one of the worst she has worked with. I never see doctor before surgery, except as I am going under, nor after in the recovery room. His office never calls to check up on me either. I do get call from surgery center, I inform them that I am having an allergic reaction to pain meds so thoughtfully given to me by Dr. (as noted above they were not going to give me any as I had received a prescription from my primary, although they never asked how many pills I had, strength, when I received them, how many were prescribed etc.) she suggested I cut them in half and call my doctor if I still had a problem. I continue to have a reaction. My husband calls and he is told that they can’t give me a prescription for what I already have been given by my primary. Okay, but they didn’t prescribe anything else for me either. I call them and Suzanne at Dr. Kelly’s office and I have back and forth about why I should be allergic to both pain meds and not just one. I have no faith in them by this time. I tell her I am having a hard time communicating with her and she states that I don’t have to come back to Dr. Kellys office if I don’t want to. I am stunned. I tell her she is a bad listener, and that it is possible to be allergic to one and not the other and that either way they should have attempted to prescribe something but she goes back to my earlier prescription and that I should take that. I tell her I am but I only had 20 5mg pills prescribed to me versus the 60 10 mg pills that Dr. Kelly prescribed post op how was I going to make it past 4 days she went back into how I should be allergic to those pills to and that I was probably still going to have a reaction etc. I know this not to be true. I just dont know why they are making such a big deal about this. Anyhow, I did get more pill from my primary at a lesser dose than those Dr. Kelly gave me and my primary also treated me for the rash I developed around the surgery site that Suzanne associated to my allergic reaction to both meds. She should stick to sitting behind a desk because she obviously doesn’t know what she is talking about. Although, I have no trust nor desire to go back into this poorly managed office, I must finish what I started as Dr. Kelly has still not informed me of his findings, if I in fact received acl replacement, (I am guessing I did as I got 60 pain pills), if he had seen any other problems, and his overall opinion on what I should expect going forward. After this appt. I will be dismissing his office of any future care or offer thereof. I can say that the knee hurts less overall than it has in the last few months. However, some of the Dr's staff and their procedures need to be addressed and updated. If not for the internet and my ability to look up all the questions to my answers I would be lost, confused, and frightened. I will not recommend this Doctor to others I care for. Bad experience!
