What are the beliefs and visions that guide your work?
Each of us is born with the capacity to fully enjoy our bodies, our minds, our lives, the world we were born into. We had no choice as to what cards we were dealt, but we do have a choice as to how we will play the hand. To the degree our environment gave us support and love, and encouraged our Self-esteem and taught to deal successfully with life’s challenges, we can realize our potential and live a life of joy, fulfillment, and love. Without such support, or when there has been unresolved trauma, the result is imbalance, which may appear as symptoms, dysfunction, or disease.
Each person has within the capacity to heal when given the guidance, support, and wisdom we need. My work has been to find the principles for reaching the source of our imbalances and remedy them.
“One's philosophy is not best expressed in words. It is expressed in the choices one makes . . . the process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
The Healer Within
Regardless of the kind of treatment, the true source of the healing lies within the patient/client. This might express itself on a mental, emotional or even on a physical level as a "will to live." Even though a person might feel committed to life and living, the cells of their body may not share in this. Without the physical will to live, physical diseases often persist.
The "lack of will to live," actually represents not a lack of something, but a blockage, or inhibition of something. There is always a deep level within that truly wills to live, and can bring about healing. The healing process had to do with removing the inhibition and allowing its expression.
My focus is always on awakening, nurturing, and empowering that inner potential to restore balance, wholeness and deep healing. Although I would prefer not to use medications, I find their judicious use can be invaluable during the sometimes slow process of awakening the inner healer. Similarly, my tapes, retreats, and trainings are designed to provide support for the deeper healing.
How do deep relaxation and imagery recordings fit in?
“All conditions and all circumstances in our lives are a result of a certain level of thinking. If we want to change the conditions and circumstances, we have to change the level of thinking that is responsible for it.”
Albert Einstein
Your state of consciousness ultimately determines your health, wellness, happiness and level of success in life. How you think, feel and behave is directly affects your experience of discomfort, dysfunction or disease. Through deep healing, profound changes can take place, and become more permanent when you practice regularly with tapes. Recorded at the time of your individual session, they help you recapture the clarity and empowerment we found during your visit, reinforce the learnings and rehearse the imagery.
What do you mean by the expression “Writing your own life’s script?”
“The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination.”
John Schaar
Most mental, physical, emotional and spiritual pain is the result of the beliefs, assumptions and expectations we have about ourselves and about the world we inhabit. These are available to us as images, thoughts and memories. When we examine, then change these inner images, we can dramatically alter our experience of the world, and the behavior of body and mind. The result is often reflected in an improvement in physical health and quality of life.
Do you work with people who are receiving medical treatment or who are in other forms of therapy?
“A treatment of an illness that does not also minister to the human spirit is grossly deficient.”
Jerome Frank, M.D.
Mine is not an “alternative” approach, but an essential aspect of medical therapy that has been inadvertantly dropped from conventional medical care, due more to market forces than humanitarian ones. Many of those I see are in other forms of medical or psychotherapeutic treatment. When people are undergoing any kind of treatment, they heal much better when they participate emotionally, mentally and spiritually in the process, even surgery or chemotherapy. Similarly, when I serve as the primary therapist, I often recommend adjunctive treatment, e.g., massage, meditation, dietary, yoga, medical workup. My aim is not merely to treat the symptoms, or even the disease, but the patient.
