Services Individual:

Individual psychotherapy is a special kind of dialogue that takes place between a trained professional and an individual who is seeking healing and/or growth. The dialogue is specifically designed to elicit new insight, new emotional energies, and newly effective behaviors. When I venture into a therapeutic dialogue, my first priority is to ensure that it unfolds in a safe, accepting, and self-affirming environment. When an individual seeker is received in this way, he or she will naturally move toward self-awareness, inner sincerity, and genuine emotional processing.

Couples:

Couples communicate on many wavelengths. Expressive eyes, subtle touches, telling postures… every encounter is layered with non-verbal cues. The verbal exchange is intricately layered as well. The surface – the content of what is being said – tends to obscure the underlying transaction. Often my role involves guiding a new kind of communication, by way of bringing attention to the deeper layers. As couples learn to verbalize these layers more directly, they tend to have more constructive, genuine, and loving dialogues.

Families:

Families can benefit greatly from therapy as well. My approach to family therapy involves identifying and addressing rigid patterns of interaction, while facilitating emotional engagement and trust. Family issues are a consequence of multiple inputs and outputs, and are rarely caused by a single family member. Solutions to family issues are similarly connected to everyone involved and draw upon the strengths, wisdom, and support of every participant.

Teens:

Teens can benefit greatly from a reassuring and unconditionally accepting presence coming from outside of the family. I have, in this capacity, helped many teenagers arrive into self-awareness, self-control, and personal responsibility. My success in this regard is based on effective, teen-specific intervention strategies, as well as a desire to help parents better understand their child’s temperament, their own parenting style, and the developmental process their child is undergoing.
