Our goal is to provide our patients with the most comprehensive care with regards not only to acute and chronic kidney disease, but also to preventative care, with an emphasis on control of risk factors for progression of kidney disease, particularly high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus.
We pride ourselves in providing the most state-of-the-art, thorough, clinical care, based on evidence based medicine.

ServicesManagement of Acute Kidney Injury - this includes a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including but not limited to volume depletion, fluid/electrolyte disturbances, acid/base disorders and acute tubular necrosis ( damage to the kidneys at the microscopic level). Most AKI is seen in the hospital.
Management of Chronic Kidney Disease - Chronic Kidney Disease is defined by 5 stages, based on the kidneys' ability to filter the blood of waste products ( GFR). Patients with an estimated GFR of < 60 ml/min ( Stage 3 ) and beyond, should be seen by a nephrologist on a regular basis.
Kidney Transplantation - Chronic Kidney Disease patients that meet criteria for a kidney transplant are managed both pre and then post transplant, with regular scheduled visits. Pre-transplant management involves work up to place the patient on a transplant list, and post transplant, the patient is monitored very closely to ensure longevity of the transplant.
Dialysis - We provide expertise in all aspects of Dialysis, a modality employed to clear the blood of fluid and waste products, when the patient is at End Stage Renal Disease ( typically Stage 5 with eGFR of < 15 ml/min). Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, Home Hemodialysis are modalities utilized in the outpatient setting, and in the hospital, both hemo and peritoneal dialysis are used. CRRT ( continuous renal replacement therapy) is specifically reserved for unstable, ICU patients.
CKD Education - This is typically provided to patients with Stage 4 CKD ( eGFR 15-29 ml/min). These patients are typically considered pre-dialysis, and benefit from education that helps them better understand their condition, and helps to delay progression of their disease.
Hypertension - We provide unique expertise in the management of hypertension, especially difficult to control blood pressure, 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring of patients with resistant hypertension, 'white coat' hypertension and labile blood pressures.
Nephrolithiasis - This condition is formation of kidney stones. We provide our patients with unique advice on the important risk factors associated with this condition, and how to control these, and prevent formation of kidney stones.Additional ServicesTAHIR HAFEEZ
