During our family vacation to Pigeon Forge this month, the unthinkable occured. Our beloved family pet, a dog of almost 15 years, suddenly and without warning went from very healthy for her age, to extremely ill. Not knowing the area, I found Mountain Home online and they quickly made room for us. From the time my dog and I arrived, and throughout our whole stay, the care and compassion shown to our dog (and even myself) was exceptional. The staff tended to our dog's comfort while quickly running diagnostic tests and even checking in on how I, the owner, was doing. In the end, we had to say goodbye to our beloved pet, but felt tremendously confident that it was not due to the staff's lack of care, skill or desire to help. In fact, the staff took their time to review all possible options with me and even were willing to sit with me on the floor as we comforted my dog together. The care they showed both our dog and myself was very comforting in what otherwise was a tragic event to occur while on a family vacation and away from everything familiar. The time they devoted to us, despite not having an appointment, truly showed me how much they care. While no one wants to loose a pet, inevitably the time does come, and I can at least appreciate the clinical skill, help, and compassion demonstrated by all the staff that day at Mountain Home.
