She seems somewhat lacking in any real therapeutic experience. I'm thinking she may have more of a niche practice which caters to the rich and possibly bored. I came with a problem related to the stressors of being married to someone who has suffered heartbreaking childhood abuse - she seemed completely lost as to how to guide me in general terms, let alone approaching anything specific in terms of dealing with stress. The most abhorrent part, however, was when she implied that my husband's parents could be excused(?) in some way for their actions against him because they "paid for his education", and finally her suggestion that my husband probably didn't remember correctly what had happened to him because "little kids don't remember very well". Mind you, we are talking about sexual abuse here...something that was extraordinarily difficult for my husband to reveal and come to terms with. If she feels unqualified to treat people dealing with these issues either directly or indirectly, and she is up front about it, then she ought not to comment at all regarding such a delicate and highly sensitive issue. It is so painful. This occurred during my first and only appointment with her, by the way. She is more equipped to deal with so-called "princess problems" and possibly the concerns associated with ladies who lunch. You know, the odd hangnail; "which dress should I wear?"...this type of thing. Also, she had a very odd habit of cutting me off as I answered rather basic questions - like, "where did you say you went to college" or something of that nature, which, in itself was strange, but it was more the way she did it; by closing her eyes a loudly saying "wwwwwwwwwait, wait, wait, wait, wwwwait" or "nnnnnnnoo, no, no, nnnno"; as if she was drowning and perhaps I was the only person left who could help her, but sounding almost annoyed at the same time. Anyway, odd. Bizarre.
