Terrible experience. I got myself cancelled by my health insurance in a confusing mix up at the beginning of the year. Since David was my broker I called him and explained what happened and that I had to avoid getting fined because it was going to cost tens of thousands in fines because of the unusual way I get paid and asked the best way to get reinstated. He immediately got my credit card info and got me another insurance. I was relieved to hear this and as we were hanging up I told him I was glad to not be paying a fine. He said "oh this doesn't stop the fine, you can't avoid that". The insurance he got me was $877. I used it at physical therapy and the receptionist said the company was the rudest company she had ever talked to. They made it very clear they would not be covering anything. I wrote a letter to my original insurance and they did reinstate me. I really had been misinformed although I probably should have known better. I called David to see about cancelling the new insurance. He told me he only got it because it was so cheap. $877 for six months. It could not be cancelled because we had paid up front and if I did cancel he would lose his commission. I called the company and cancelled. They said they would reimburse the remaining 5 months within ten days after the first month was up. When it did not show up on my credit card I called them and was informed the $877 was per month. I asked if I hadn't called to cancel would they have charged me another $877 for the next month and they said yes. I called David to tell him it was $877 a month and not for six months. He said that was impossible, its never that high. I told him they emailed me a copy of the policy and I was forwarding it to him. He said I could just cancel it and he was not looking at any stupid email and hung up. For a policy that costs $877 a month and certainly doesn't cover anything that much cheaper policies cover I am guessing David made a pretty good commission on it. At no point did my tremendous stress about getting a huge fine or anything else about my well being enter his mind. His only concern was getting his commission.
