If my mom ever needs skilled nursing again, I will definitely consider other options. The care team was a united front, and they didn't seem to hear what we were saying regarding my mom's treatment. Medications that were to be given *with a meal* were repeated given on an empty stomach at 6:00 a.m. The nursing staff did not seem to be familiar with how various medications were to be administered, and even though we, the family, tried to educate them, it fell on deaf ears. My mother developed an extremely bad pressure sore while in Brighton Gardens Skilled Nursing, and *nothing* was done about it. It took six months of care by a visiting nurse to get it healed. When my mother tried to take matters into her own hands (namely, put padding on the sore so it wouldn't continually get bumped on the wheelchair), a staff member laughed and said, "she can't just go and get something for it herself!" Yet, the staff did not make any attempts to treat the wound. My mother lost close to 10 pounds - which she really couldn't afford to lose - while in their care because the food they served was not acceptable, due to allergies. At their request, I brought milk substitute for her morning cereal, yet the staff was clueless about how to serve it - despite the fact they asked for it and I supplied it with instructions. Total waste of my time and money. They supplemented her diet with Boost, but I had to order it from Amazon because they "couldn't find it." Think twice about sending your loved one to this facility.
