I took my Boxer Heeler mix dog, Zoey to Beach Veterinary service for her yearly wellness care today and was very pleased with her response to the clinic and all the staff and Dr. Beach. I adopted Zoey at 17 months after seeing her photo on Facebook when the previous owner was rehoming her because her work required Zoey to be crated for too long. Also, she lived in a townhouse and didn’t have a yard to run in. My house is on a half acre lot and I have a large fenced in backyard. Zoey loves to run!! Zoey wasn’t well socialized and was slow to warm up to strangers the first time I took her to a different Veterinarian and I hadn’t had her long and wanted to get her current on her shots and wellness care. I loved the friendliness and obvious competence of the staff at Beach Veterinary Service as we interacted with them, as well as the way Violet and Dr. Beach advised me of the options for flea and tick prevention and treatment, as well as Heartworm and internal parasite prevention for Zoey. Also, I liked being able to walk Zoey up to the door of the clinic directly from my car. This didn’t give her time to get anxious about a new place. At her first Veterinary appointment elsewhere, I was told that it was unlikely that at 17 months, she wasn’t likely to improve much as far as her socialization went. I didn’t necessarily agree with that point of view. I believe that it was too soon to form an opinion as she hadn’t been to a Veterinarian up until that day and was still getting comfortable with me. When I adopted her, she tested positive to Heartworm microfilariae. She was treated for it and has remained on Heartworm Preventative ever since. I am delighted to say that today, she tested negative to Heartworms and any worms. She got a clean bill of health and is at a healthy weight. I am so pleased. This is a milestone for Zoey and me! 😊🐾❤️🐾😊🌈
