Back when it was called Cumberland Hall in the late 80s, was 9 yrs old and still remember many names of the staff and fellow inmates there.. It was a place for troubled youth in the squared section of buildings with the courtyard in the middle.. Turned 10 yrs old in there in the beginning of January 1990 and was eventually cut loose with a strong dependancy on Thorazine, had to be weened off slowly throughout the 4th grade. No joke. That was a very different day and age and seems incredible to imagine that was the truth of my experience as I was transitioning from a single digit age to double digit since that would be downright unheard of and frankly unthinkable today, right? Well, it was just another patient treated for whatever they diagnosed me with in 1989's Nashville TN. Actually it was probably not typical then either but I don't have any data for that. Just a feeling since I haven't ever encountered another person with that same experience and haven't ever heard of it before so.. I don't know anything fur a fact other than they had me line up for pill call thrice daily to take a little bitty brown pill and released me with a full dependency on it. Funny enough, I was actually recommitted there in 1997 for almost the exact same reason, that being behavior issues and at that point it was no longer "Cumberland Hall" but rather it was called FHC or First Hospital Corporation. Spent the entire year of 97 as a 17 year old there and cut loose at 18. That's all I feel like typing about this place although I have multiple numerous tales, all just as true as incredible, in equal measures.
