After graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic (Logan University) in 1984 where he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Smith returned to Baton Rouge. He continued his chiropractic education in family practice through Texas Chiropractic College and successfully completed the course requirements and examinations to become Board Certified though the American Chiropractic Council on Family Practice as a Chiropractic Internist in 1991. This certification is designated as a Diplomat of the American Board of Chiropractic Internist and abbreviated as DABCI, which is written after the designation DC. Functional health care and functional medicine do not have to involve prescription pharmacology.

What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of a chiropractic internist care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. It is also about what goes into your body- and using the large variable of epigenetic factor (your diet, your bacterial-viral-and other flora also has genes that turn on or turn off genetics associated activities.
