Very poor customer service! The receptionist at the front was wonderful and by far the most helpful person there.
We got our dog neutered there 4 days ago. When we went to pick him up a vet tech informed us we would be charged $30 for flushing his ears due to a yeast infection. They should have called us first and asked because we already knew he had the infection were starting treatment so basically we got charged for nothing.
There were many other cheaper places to get this procedure done (we paid $210) but we chose PDAH because we thought our dog would get the best care there and we would receive good customer service. we were already stretching our budget out pretty far to pay the $180.
After he informs us of that, he hands us some pills and explains that it is pain medication and we should give it to him twice a day. Then he just walks away. We were not given anything to watch for, any possible symptoms of the pain meds, he didn't even tell us to check the incision or anything. Our questions were met with blank stares and "ummm sure."
We ended up leaving there with little to no knowledge of how the surgery went or what to expect the next few days. We ended up calling another vet with our questions and reading things online.
The second morning after our dog's surgery we were up at 5AM with him vomiting all over and horrible diarrhea. We immediately took him outside and walked him and saw right away that his diarrhea was straight blood. After a few hours of this we called some vets (could not get ahold of Palo Duro because they were closed for a homecoming parade) and the other vets told us to bring him in immediately. Apparently this is a common side effect of the pain killer they gave us to give him (Rimadyl). Right now our dog is sitting in an animal hospital in Amarillo on IVs and getting tests done.
We do not blame PDAH for the horrible side effects, but I do blame them for their beyond poor customer service. They should be much better at educating their customers and working with them in every aspect. If we would have known what to watch for we could've caught this early and saved our dog immense pain (and saved us another $400) We'll never go back and I won't recommend them to anyone.
