Who We Are
Westlake Animal Hospital has been serving central Texas for over four decades. The animal hospital opened in 1970 in what was no more than a renovated barn on Bee Cave Road. In the beginning Westlake Animal Hospital was a one doctor establishment that would work on nearly any animal in need. Today we are an eight doctor, full service, high-tech animal clinic in the service of small animals, with our primary emphasis on dogs and cats.

DENTAL CARE
Regular dental care is essential to helping your pet's teeth and to have a longer and healthier life. We use a ultrasonic scaler to clean each tooth thoroughly, both above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Our digital dental x-rays help us reveal dental disease above and below the gum line.
INTERNAL MEDICINE
We cover all areas of internal medicine including: Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Endocrinology among others.
LASER SURGERY
Laser surgery is a less invasive alternative to traditional surgery. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures and are useful for treating a wide range of conditions such as Soft Palate Resection, Stenotic Nares Correction, Declawing as well as cyst, tumor and wart removal. Laser procedures result in less pain, less bleeding and less swelling. They reduce risk of infection and result in less post-operative discomfort.
FULLY STOCKED PHARMACY
Since human pharmacies do not carry many of the prescription products approved for pets, we stock the safest and most effective veterinary drugs in the animal health care field. These products are supplied to us directly from the manufacturers. You also have the option of ordering online through our online pharmacy which allows the products to be delivered directly to your door. Click our online pharmacy link, located on the home page, to find out more information.
MICROCHIP ID IMPLANTS
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery of lost pets. We also offer microchips vaild for international travel.
NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active.
PAIN MANAGEMENT
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is essential for patient care and healing.
DIGITAL RADIOLOGY
Radiographs – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We also have a fluoroscopy to aid in the diagnosing of diseases such as collapsing trachea. Our latest addition is a digital radiograph which allows instant results and unsurpassed radiographic quality.
SURGERY
We offer the advanced surgical techniques and technology for orthopedic and soft tissue procedures. In addition to routine procedures we also offer Bone Plating, Laser Procedures, Cruciate Rupture Repair, Hip Luxation Repair, Laparoscopic and Stem Cell procedures. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet, heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques, ECG and oxygen saturation monitors, intensive after surgery care and full blood testing. We use the safest anesthesia available: Sevoflurane.
ULTRASOUND
This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.
IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE
The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Because pets age so much faster than people, twice yearly examinations help monitor your pet’s health before disease can become more painful and treatment more expensive. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam, frequent dental care, parasite testing, nutritional guidelines and recommendations, vaccination program, and specialized diagnostic test for all life stages. To help your pet live longer the key words are Diet, Dentistry, and Diagnostics.
BOARDING & GROOMING
We have a special place for our feline guests in our Feline Hospital. No dogs allowed.
We also provide boarding for dogs and cats as well as grooming services at our Boarding Kennel located in a separate building at the end of our driveway. Our doctors visit the boarding kennel each day for any medical services your pet may need while in our care.

Knowing that she would be safe in a veterinary environment, I boarded my German Shepherd,Clara, air Westlake Boarding Kennel and also asked that she be bathed and furminated on the day I would return. I found the fees to be extremely reasonable. Clara was obviously well cared for. Her coat was as clean and beautiful as I ever remember, and the furmination has taken care of any shedding so far.
Being an abused rescue dog, Clara is extremely shy. I know that she received quite a bit of attention while I was gone because she seems a little less wary of people that she has encountered on our walks lately
Thank you so much,
Nancy
