A week before Christmas, we took our 1-year-old Siamese cat to the St.C. Animal Hospital for a couple minor problems. She had an eye infection and a sore on her neck that we'd been having problems with due to the fact she'd scratched it back open a couple times.

We received eye drops for the infection, but the doctor told us he was going to give her a shot to help the scrape on her neck heal. He did -NOT- tell us exactly what he was giving her. For the next week, our cat slowly lost energy. She was lethargic and no longer played, where before she'd been more full of energy than any animal I've ever known. It was hard to ever get her to sit still.

The day after Christmas, she died of a massive blood hemorrhage. Her blood clot had broken up and got caught in her bloodstream. We had to rush my mother's companion, in severe pain, to another hospital that morning just to have her put down. It was the only option at that point as she was beyond helping. It really tore a hole in our family during the Holidays.

What caused it? The fact that the vet working at St. Clairsville Animal Hospital gave our young cat STEROIDS, which is a huge red flag for any animal owner (especially cats!). He DID NOT warn us or the possible side effects. He DID NOT warn us of the danger it can pose to felines in particular. Our loss would have been completely preventable had there been any semblance of professionalism or accountability at this supposed place of business.

In short: Find another place to take your pets! This one isn't safe! Always make sure your vet explains EXACTLY what he's doing for your animals.
