Contemporary Facial and Oral Surgery, the office of Dr. Stephen Chan, is proud to offer traditional and expanded scope oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures. Our services range from dentoalveolar surgery (extraction of teeth, impacted and wisdom, and the repair or restructuring of supporting bone) to reconstructive surgery with dental implants to minimally invasive cosmetic surgery. There is a full range of IV sedation and anesthesia options to ensure that your surgery is delivered in the safest and most comfortable way. Our staff has the ambition to provide the highest quality surgical care in the most comfortable, safe and technologically advanced environment as possible. All of our staff is dedicated to helping patients understand their oral health through dental / medical education and prevention. We are highly skilled at insurance benefits and inquiries and can help to maximize your insurance reimbursements. Because we are in-network providers for a wide variety of insurance programs we can help each patient to utilize benefits as well as find value with their insurance, making dentistry affordable. We hope to cultivate long term relationships with all of our patients and their families and look forward to meeting and serving new patients every day. Education
Stephen Chan, D.D.S., M.D., grew up in Southern California and earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California – Los Angeles. He received a D.D.S. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Dentistry, then completed a two-year hospital dentistry residency at the UCLA Medical Center. During that time, Dr. Chan provided dental services to medically compromised, mentally and physically challenged patients. He also administered intravenous (IV) conscious sedation and performed comprehensive dental treatment under general anesthesia in the operating room.
Dr. Stephen Chan earned an M.D. degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency, after training at multiple hospitals including Children’s Medical Center, Zale/University Hospital, St. Paul Hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital, JPS Hospital at Fort Worth, Baylor Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. His experience included completion of a general surgery internship, training as an anesthesia resident and expanded-scope facial and cosmetic training.

Dr. Stephen Chan completed dental school, medical school, and a rigorous oral and maxillofacial surgery residency based at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Texas. Our physicians training provides a wealth of experiences in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery at many of the major hospital institutions in the Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex.
Affiliations
Dr. Chan is a Diplomate in Special Care Dentistry by the American Board of Special Care Dentistry, and is board certified in hospital dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Hospital Dentists. He also holds certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and has general anesthesia, intravenous (IV) sedation and oral sedation permits.

Services
As a full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery practice, our patient services include but is not limited to biopsies and removal of oral/facial cysts and tumors, dental implants, facial implants, maxillofacial trauma such as nasal/septal deviation and facial bone fractures from previous injuries, dento-alveolar surgery (including impacted and wisdom teeth), orthognathic (corrective/cosmetic jaw surgery) and advanced reconstructive surgery, pediatric oral surgery, advanced major and minor bone grafting, evaluation for cosmetic surgery, periodontal soft tissue or gingival surgical therapy, and surgical treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. Because of our specialized surgical experience with the face, we are able to provide adjuvant therapy for aging changes such as Botox®, laser treatments for wrinkles and discolorations, scar revisions and cosmetic fillers (Restylane®, Perlane®, and Juvederm®). This office is also equipped to provide the full range of anesthesic options including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), intravenous (IV) sedation and even general anesthesia. This allows you to receive the best surgical care while you are comfortable and sedated.
