This was the most unprofessional salon I have ever been in. When I walked in the door 2 women were standing in the "nail area". They did not greet me but simply stared for several seconds. One woman finally, while shoving a Dorito in her mouth, asked if I was there to see...(don't remember the name she said). I replied that I did not know who that person was. She then asked if I was there for nails to which I replied that I was not but was in for a bikini wax. About this time a different woman came out of a room and told me to have a seat and she would be with me. When the woman, who never identified herself, came back out she took me into the room where the waxing took place. She was carrying the wax crock. The room was dirty and too small to be conducive to a thorough waxing. Instead of asking me to lie down on the massage table she told me to sit sideways and just lean back and spread my legs and she would wax that way. To do a bikini wax this way is not optimal. The person doing the wax cannot see the area as well and would not get the best results. I asked her if she would be doing the top area. She said that would be an additional charge. She then sprayed something in the area and walked out of the room without saying anything. She came back and stated that she had sprayed antiseptic on the area and that it had to dry. She also had a price list she referred to stating that it is standard policy for any salon to charge extra for the top or if someone has more hair than normal. I have been getting bikini waxes on a regular basis for 5 years and have never had to pay extra for this. The certificate was supposedly a $30 value. I generally pay between $30-$37 for a wax and never have to pay more for the top. She also indicated that if I wanted her to go further in on the sides of my legs it would also be an additional charge. I decided to stick with the basics, which was poor at best. I was not going to pay any additional money for bad service. Once she was finished she reached for a bottle of wax remover that was pretty much empty and had been around for a while as it was crusty and dirty. She squeezed what little she could out of the bottle onto a towelette and handed it to me and told me to wipe myself clean. There was not enough on the paper towel to clean any wax off. Also, she did not apply any "after lotion" to avoid redness or irritation. When I left the woman was already taking another customer back and did not say a word to me as I left. I could not get out of the salon fast enough. When I left I was shaking and near tears. When I got home I made an appointment for a bikini wax the next day.
As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They went out of their way to make me feel special and appreciated. It was easy to get the appointment time that worked for my schedule. One of the first things I noticed about this business was how many different areas of the building were handicap-accessible. I have been to other places where I couldn't tell how someone in a wheelchair could even enter, but they really spent a lot of time to accommodate people with all different needs. My stylist made sure that my neck and body were completely covered. When I left they took the time to dust off any stray hairs so that I would be comfortable the rest of the day.
