My father died here in 2003. I was very unhappy with his treatment. He was covered in bed sores and black and blue marks when he died. I lived abroad and came back just before his death from Altzheimers.
I had worked for Southport Manor from 1981-2001, I was laid off.I will say it is an excelent place for care and rehab. I do hope things have changed since I'd been there. Mr. Garfalo owner one year His daughter owner the next couple of years. There was a great on Infection control Gail Saxon she retired but came back. I do have a complaint that when the aids are short handed, Why aren't these infection control, inservice directors help thesegirls and boys out. I do think this is their home and all need to help, but it does not seem to be the case there. You all need to remember that if there were no patients there would be no jobs, you need to work together. My grandmother was in a couple years ago I was not satisfied, a lady had to go to the bathroom, her aid was busy, but 4 nurses with degrees did not help her. (SHAME). We had her transfered to the Caloton. She waas very happy, they all worked together it was nice to see, and Granny very happy. Which meant I left her in good hands till her passing. The staff should remember it is equal oppartunity job all should help. Thanks for Listening Michelle Nichols
