My Dad died here five days after being discharged from Frederick Memorial Hospital to this place.
My initial concern was that there was only ONE RN nurse for the main floor and ONE LPN nurse for the entire second floor. The place only has two floors. There was one CNA who refused to turn off a beeping IV because she said she wasn't authorized to do so.
The TV didn't work in his room. The one outlet in the room could not accommodate both the electric bed plug and the one for the IV. No doctor saw my Dad from Wednesday (day he arrived) until the following Monday. He died on Tuesday morning after physical therapy on Monday & was taken by ambulance back to Frederick Memorial Hospital.

My Dad had a sacral pressure ulcer from being at Frederick Memorial Hospital and ones beginning on his heels. Despite this, when I came on Friday to visit him, he was lying in his own excrement & his bare feet were extended over the foot bed of the ancient power bed he was in with his ankles bearing the most pressure. His IV was beeping loudly since it was finished but nobody attended to it for more than 30 minutes. We could not operate the bed, and when we tried to hoist him up further in the bed so his ankle area wouldn't be resting on the foot board of the bed, wefound out he needed to be changed. His last words to family were Tuesday morning and he said that "something terrible happened to me in the dark." When I was there, waiting endlessly for the sole LPN to come and turn off the beeping IV, patients wandered into his room and stood by his bed. I think he was put on the floor where the dementia patients are. One lady was screaming endlessly while another kept screaming as she got her foot stuck under her wheelchair.
He was put on the 2nd floor due to a MRSA infection of his sacral wound (but the 1st floor was full already) yet received no special attention for it other than IV antibiotics. I feel sorry for the staff who are overworked and cannot possibly attend to the patients properly. My niece applied for the RN job there and affirmed that there is only one RN for all the patients on the 1st floor and only one LPN on the 2nd floor. I didn't find out about my father's death from staff there. I received a phone message to call them but assumed it was about the TV that never worked in his room. I miss my Dad & since he had no autopsy, I am unsure precisely what killed him. Not a good thing for a daughter to have to live with.

My mother came here from Frederick Memorial Hospital. The entire staff was wonderful! Caring nurses that took the time to review my mom's medical records from the hospital. The PT, OT, Speech Therapists were great. They were gentle and encouraging. The GNA's were attentive to my mom's needs and gentle with her. My mom was not able to participate in activities, so they brought them to her! Can't say enough about the wonderful staff- and that is what it is all about the care you get when you need it.
The building is older, but they are building a new facility just south of Route 70 to open this summer.
I would highly recommend this facility.
