This nursing home is fairly clean overall---the bathroom in the Mental Health Care Unit was not at all clean and getting a wheelchair into the room required going outside the door to turn it around because there was not enough room to turn it inside to allow access to the commode---which was not clean and neither was the floor. There was an unpleasant odor of old urine! One lady who was NOT confused, just unable to get herself out of the wheelchair, had very edematous lower extremities, with reddening of the skin of her legs, yet she had obviously been in a wheelchair with both feet on the floor for HOURS and days, since she had been observed the same condition over several days at differing times of the day. She was asking to be taken to the restroom, and was ignored until a visitor rolled her to the bathroom door and asked an aide (name unknown since no employees were noted to be wearing NAME TAGS!! very unprofessional!!). Unfortunately, this nursing home is probably one of the better ones, which does give pause to wonder what the bad ones are like! There appeared to be an lack of nursing assistants, as well as nurses (there was one LPN giving meds----no RN was seen, but, again, nobody had name tags on, so who knows whether the staff members are housekeeping, aides, LPN or RN!!! Very disappointing place for an elderly person to spend last days!
