I will try to be brief.

The first time I went to visit Dr. Richard Parkinson. He looked over my body and said “I see eight moles that I would like to remove right now.” Then he proceeded to try to GIVE me a perspective on payments and insurance. He told me my insurance would “only pay for three removals at a time.” Then, after quite a bit more talking he asked “do you have insurance?”
Apparently, when he told me my insurance would only remove three moles in one visit, he was expelling what “most insurance companies will do.” As I would learn later, this not true, but a line used to persuade me to spend more money than necessary. Much like a used car salesman would use.

This office refused to remove more than 3 moles at a time so that I would have to pay more copays. At first they insisted that it was MY insurance that refused to pay more than three at a time, but after many conversations with both my insurance and many different people in the doctors office it was clear what the problem was. They even sent in a nurse that specialized in making sure I agreed to only get three moles removed. I walked out of the appointment because I was very uncomfortable. It was very tough trying to get the truth out of these people. Just save yourself the time if they are pestering you in this way. Your health is not their number one priority, But hey, look on the bright side. Maybe it’s number two!

After allot of frustrating (but cordial) conversations and cancelled appointments, they suggested that I go somewhere else.

The next dermatologist I went to was Dr. Stewart West in American Fork. He was amazing, and he removed 7 moles.

I never had to doubt their qualifications. They made their credentials completely obvious, which made me feel a lot safer. They've never used foul language, which has bothered me at some of the other places I've been too. They always make an extra effort to be polite and courteous. They do such a great job of never overbooking appointments, even though they are extremely popular. I know for a fact that they have lots of business, but I've never had to wait a long time in a crowded waiting room like other places I've been too. It was nice to hear how much the staff respected them. It made me that much more confident that I was under the care of a professional. I didn't have to wait at all after I arrived for my appointment. They were running right on time, which is a really big deal for me.
