failed back syndrome is seen when individuals have had surgery for back pain without relief of their symptoms. While back surgery is 90% effective in treating nerve pain, the kind of pain that runs down your leg, it is only 60% effective in treating back pain, or pain across the back. Just becouse a patient has failed back surgery doesn't mean that they have to live in pain. Spinal injections may provide temporary relieve. A spinal stimulator (see procedures performed) may bring many patients long lasting relief. Lastly, re-operation using minimally invasive techniques may be beneficial.
