The best doctor I ever had, answered every question, spent time with you, was cheerful, friendly and most of all, compassionate. He was the only doctor I have been able to get my husband to go to in 20 years. He retired suddenly after a big hospital bought out his practice (and our local community hospital), I imagine he could not stomach their "money before people" policies that all "big business" doctors seem to share, but I can't say for sure. After trying for three weeks to find a new doctor, I have decided to simply stop going to MDs. Despite the fact that I have Lupus, it is so hard to find a compassionate doctor that does not practice "big business" medicine, i.e., (making you drive countless miles to an expensive specialist that is only concerned with one part of you when they can't help you anyway, but they sure will insist you try medications that may very well kill you, only the new ones though, they are under patent), especially after having one that cared so much, that I believe that I am giving up on "big business" medicine. They have driven all the good ones out of the business! Dr. Buhler, I sure miss you, but I don't blame you one bit!
On July 24, 2009, while camping at Riverbend RV Park, near Lake Toxaway/Cashiers, NC, I SUFFERED What is believed to be a mild stroke. A FELLOW CAMPER took me and my wife to Dr. Buehler's office. I did not know Dr. Buehler and his staff at all. We were all strangers.
Dr. Buehler's Nurse took me straight in and I was given IMMEDIATE attention. The Nurse performed some tests, and Dr. Buehler came right in and gave me his personal attention. He examined me completely. Blood was drawn and analyzed and an EKG was done. I was extremely impressed with the questions that he asked, and the way that he examined me.
After a thorough examination of all the facts and tests that that had been conducted, DR. Buehler explained to my wife and I that he thought that perhaps I had suffered a mild stroke, however, he explained that he did not have the necessary equipment nor the complete expertise in Neurology that was needed to be completey certain, and he recommended that we go straight to Hendersonville, NC to where a well equipped hospital and a neurologist were available.
Dr. Buehler called my personal physician in Hendersonville, and explained things to him. He furthermore prepared an envelope of all the information that he had gathered for me to take with me.
My wife and I then traveled directly to the Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, where I received further tests and treatment.
My wife and I both thank Dr. Buehler and his fine staff at his Medical Center for their fast, efficient, and courteous service. I rate them my highest for profficient, honest, and caring service.
If I ever need a Doctor in the Lake Toxaway Area, I will definitely go to Doctor Buehler. Dewey B. McKinney 7/27/09
